What Is Medicare?
Medicare is health insurance for the following:
- People 65 or older
- People under 65 with certain disabilities
- People of any age with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant)
When can I sign up for Medicare?

What is Medigap/Medicare Supplement Insurance
- Covers what medicare doesn't pay
- There are up to 12 different standardized Medigap plans (Plans A through L)*
- Each plan each plan has a different set of basic and extra benefits
- Each plan is standardized so all companies plans provide the same benefits
- Each insurance company decides which Medigap policies it wants to sell
- Although each plan is the same for all insurance companies, the costs vary
- You will have to pay a premium to the Medigap insurance company

What is Medicare Advantage also known as Part C?
- Medicare Advantage is NOT a government program
- Medicare Advantage is selected instead of Medicare which is offered by the government
- Each Medicare Advantage Plan can charge different out of-pocket costs.
